Close up of canvas one with black stitching on the skyline.

The idea of the skyline has worked really well but it didn’t look how I wanted it to. It wasn’t working. I’ve tried collaging bible text onto it but that didn’t work. I’ve tried highlights and shadows and pencil outlines, but all that hasn’t achieved what I wanted. So I decided to go back to the stitching and see if the definition could be achieved through that…. and it seems to be working! Would like to add a scarlet thread to the horizon line to finish this off. The scarlet thread is used a lot in my work and symbolises many things from the rope Rahab tied to her window in order for herself and her family to be saved, to the blood of Jesus saving and restoring throughout history. Thread is also a reminder to me that a many braided cord is better than a single: we are more than just ourselves when Jesus is involved. We are stronger, wiser, more discerning, kinder and more determined with Him by our side. The scarlet thread, therefore for me, symbolises the love of God for this incredible city and the sacrifice He has made for her. It’s also our call to Him to continue to pour out His mercy and love. Will continue stitching tonight….
